Chicago weather 2017, seasons swap places
They say that if you don’t like the Chicago weather, just wait a few minutes. That may be a bit of an exaduration, but I personally have seen the mercury fall by 20 degrees here in just a few minutes. And that has happened more than a few times. When that happens, it’s called a “pneumonia front” and for good reason. The Chicago weather this year has been stranger than normal. Most of the summer saw highs in the 70s. Now that we are in the fall, it has suddenly decided to heat up. This is great news for sun worshippers, bike riders and trail hikers.
For the last few years, Chicago Divvy Bikes have rented out bicycles by the day. For a cost of just $10.00 per day, you can pick up your bike at any of 250 locations and return it to any of them as well! One fun and healthy thing to do is to ride along the bike path that parallels beautiful Lake Shore Drive. No matter what the Chicago weather, the path is scenic, well attended and best of all (to some) completely flat. It runs along the shores of Lake Michigan for a total of 19 miles.
Another fun way to enjoy the warm days is to spend some time at The Chicago Gourmet event, sponsored by Bon Apetit magazine. Celebrity chefs Curtis Stone, Rick Bayless, and others along with a couple of hosts from the TV show “The Chew” will be on hand. If that doesn’t grab you, you can always spend some quality time at the same park, visiting The Bean, Crown Fountain, Pritzker pavilion and more. Just a short jaunt to the north on Michigan Ave. is the Magnificent Mile. A shoppers paradise. Navy Pier is also a short walk from the parks, along the lakefront. Enjoy!
